Get to know them in this brief interview:
Michelle, in terms of your clients, what gets you up in the morning?
Counselling and advising them. Finding just the right property is challenging - however I'm able to make my clients' search easier while finding effective solutions in our journey is a job well done.
- How does residing in Fresnaye influence the way you provide service in that area? Being so involved in the community over decades means I'm trusted. People know me, they know my family, and so they want to do business with me. I know Fresnaye's heartbeat, the ins-and-outs - ultimately, buyer's get solid lifestyle information in terms of what it's like to really live here.
- What, in your opinion, is a buyer's biggest challenge? Buyers are most challenged by finding the right property at the right price and in the right area that matches all their requirements.
- How do you assist them in overcoming this challenge? I'm all too familiar with this particular challenge. Setting my clients' minds at ease through on-going support and regular communication is a gift which stems from genuine care
- What makes working in a team with Stephen powerful? Stephen and I complement each other completely through our shared experience, knowledge, and skills. Totally in sync, we have a mutual instinct when it comes to assessing and understanding our clients' needs. And with full knowledge of each other's buyers and sellers, our team approach always gets the transacting party across the finish line.
- Why is now, despite the economic climate both locally and internationally, a good time to buy? Despite the economic climate, Cape Town remains as beautiful and as desirable as it always has. Ultimately, real estate remains a sound investment, especially in the Mother City with its endless opportunities for capital growth.
Stephen, as an agent what brings you joy?
Every client has a dream home. The perfect sanctuary to call their own. The joy is in the challenge of bringing this dream to life.
- In your experience, what is a property buyer's greatest fear? Cape Town's sheer variety of property offerings can be overwhelming. My clients mostly fear the city's erratic pricing factor which differs greatly according to the various suburbs. For local buyers, this is compounded by the fact that Cape Town prices generally exceed those in the other parts of the country.
- How is the service you provide sensitive to this fear? By supporting my clients in being realistic, I help them identify opportunities with real value in affordable areas - the right home is also about the lifestyle it offers, factors like proximity to schools, travel times, access to healthcare, security, etc.
- Is South Africa's current loadshedding crisis affecting your business? We've learned to pivot and make the most of it. By working around loadshedding we've not allowed it to affect business.
- How do you address the issue with potential foreign buyers? It's all about education, especially pointing out that there's a growing energy crisis globally with loadshedding no longer unique to South Africa. Gas cookers, inverters, and generators are easily available locally as back-up tools.
- What should buyers know about the lifestyle on offer in the suburbs you represent? Atlantic Seaboard has worlds within a world. De Waterkant and its more yuppie lock-up and go lifestyle is vibey and cosmopolitan while Fresnaye is more family orientated. Bantry Bay is an intriguing combination of both. Then, Sea Point and Green Point are more affordable with generally smaller and older properties whilst higher up the mountain, one-of-a-kind luxury homes boast spectacular views.
- How is DG different from other leading real estate brands? By valuing relationship above all else, we offer client-centric, personalized service. We see our clients as partners, not just our next commission.
- What is the most important question a buyer should ask their real estate agent? I'd say it always comes down to costs. They must ask for guidance on the property's affordability factor to avoid any nasty surprises. Once the sale is concluded, they must insist on being kept in the loop of the transaction process as regularly as needed.
